The Register Idle Event Parameter (for Windows Clients)
NOTE: A similar parameter is also available for macOS Clients.
If the Register IDLE event when user is inactive checkbox is selected (on the Editing Client / Editing Client Group page, on the Monitoring [Windows/macOS] tab, in the Monitoring Parameters section at the top) to enable this option, an idle event will be registered whenever there is no Client activity, i.e. no mouse movement or key pressing for longer than the Timeout (min) value specified. The default value is 15 minutes.
Examples of configuring the Register IDLE event when user is inactive parameter (along with the Detect System IDLE events parameter), and whether and when idle events are registered, are shown in the table below.
Example # | Configuration of Parameters | Result (when no mouse movement or key pressing occurs)
“Detect system IDLE events” checkbox is selected | “Register IDLE event when user is inactive” checkbox is selected | Timeout (mins) specified | IDLE event registered | After (mins)
1 | No | Yes | 15 (default) | Yes | 15 |
2 | No | No | - | No | - |
3 | Yes | Yes | 20 | Yes | 20 |
4 | Yes | Yes | 999 (max) | Yes | 999 |
Configurations similar to those (shown above) in examples 2 & 4 can be used, for example, to avoid the system registering an idle event when an online meeting is in progress and the user does not move the mouse or press any keys on the keyboard during this time.
